To calculate the area of a rectangle you multiply the base times the height.
To calculate the area of a circle using the diameter, or the measurement from one edge to the opposing edge of the circle, you divide the diameter by 2, then multiply that number by itself. Take that number and multiply it by Pi (3.1416).
To calculate the volume of a cylinder, divide the diameter in half, then multiply it by itself, take that number and multiply it by Pi (3.1416) then multiply by the height.
To calculate the volume of a slab, multiply the length in feet by the width in feet, then multiply by the thickness in inches, then divide by 12.
